First Assistant District Attorney for the district, Josh King, has served District 27 since 2004.
A native of the Tenkiller community in Cherokee County, King is a devoted family man who enjoys sharing in his children’s sports and livestock activities. Upon graduation from Tahlequah High School in 1996, King earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northeastern State University and went on to earn a Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas.
King began his prosecutorial career in the district’s Cherokee County office where he’s served for nearly 14 years. He’s served as managing attorney in both the Cherokee and Adair County offices, handling most every type of criminal prosecution. He’s served as lead counsel on more than 40 jury trials during his tenure with District 27. He’s also handled civil litigation and rendered legal opinions regarding the duties of district attorneys in representing officials elected by the voters of the county.
